Educational Requirements: a) Master’s Degree in Economics, Sociology, Public Administration, Public Policy, Urban Planning with 55% marks in the aggregate b) An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work in Urban Studies with a minimum of 10 publications as books (reputed publisher) and/or/research/policy papers in (indexed/ISBN/ISSN numbered journals and as ISBN/ISSN numbered books) journals of international repute. c) A minimum of 12 years of teaching experience in university/college, and/or experience in research in a regular faculty position not less than 7 years as Associate Professor at the University/National level institutions, including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level in urban studies. d) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology – dedicated to teaching and learning process. e) A satisfactory score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) system developed by UGC in its notification.

Qualifications: a) Contribution to policy studies and activities related to Urban Issues. b) Knowledge of Kannada (atleast to speak) and good proficiency in English (speaking and writing). c) Experience in organising seminars / training courses / workshops.
